EARLY & PERSONAL LIFE
Chad Wesley was born January 28th, 1986 in Fairhope, AL. The very day the Challenger Space Shuttle tragically exploded 74 seconds upon take off.
Though born in Fairhope, Alabama, Wesley spent the majority of his childhood and teen years living in Forest, MS where he graduated from Forest High School in 2004. Wesley started playing the guitar at age 8 when his older brother, who was then playing lead guitar in a professional country band, started teaching him. His first public performance came May of 1999 when he formed a group of his adolescent peers named "SiLVER" that played covers and originals at a Relay for Life event at the local park in Forest, MS. It wasn't long after that he started forming his solo career at age 15 being managed by his father at the time.
After leaving his hometown at the age of 19, Wesley started pursuing a professional full-time career in music performing at venues in his current home metro area of Jackson, MS where he lives to this day in The Reservoir Area City of Ridgeland, MS(A northern suburb of Jackson). Wesley married Brandi LaShay, a professional hair-stylist from Ridgeland, MS in 2011. They have a son together that was born in 2007. Wesley has toured the southeast for years making a name for himself as a passionate intense performer that performs on the guitar with intensity unseen since legends like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Prince. After releasing multiple singles and even a full-length album under his own label Karma Records, Wesley signed with Malaco Music Group's imprint label Old Trace Records in early 2017. "It was a decision that was easy to make. I grew up such a fan of all the blues & soul music they made Mississippi famous for", says Wesley about being on the label. "It was the best decision for me as an artist with a family rooted in central Mississippi to sign with not only a legendary label, but one that was in my own back yard. It makes recording so much easier being local."
Wesley had an already established history with the label as he and Mulit-Grammy winning Senior Engineer Kent Bruce had worked together often in past years prior to Wesley officially signing with the label. Wesley actually recorded vocals on a demo 2 nights before the original Malaco studios was completely taken out by a tornado that tragically hit Jackson MS April 15th, 2011. "I'll never forget hearing the news and driving as fast as I could to the scene only to see emergency response blocking the area. It was decimated. I felt helpless watching that beautiful & soulful history of my state lay in rubble." Wesley recalled of that tragic day. Malaco would come back bigger and stronger and would end up forming the spin-off contemporary label that signed Wesley 6 years later.
During the early stages of production for Wesley's new album Bluezy in November, 2017, Wesley suffered a tragic loss of his dear friend & producer Ryan Montgomery who had produced Wesley's popular 2015 single-release "The One". "No one ever gets over losing a partner, a friend or especially a chosen brother. I'm just grateful we got the time together that we did." This loss would fuel Wesley to pay homage to his friend by creating the kind of album they had both agreed many times needed to happen. One that would be a throw back to golden ages of American music while highlighting the soulful nature of Wesley's sound. The album would soon be finished and a printed dedication to Mr. Montgomery's impact on Wesley would become a center piece for the album's liner notes in the CD hard copies.
Wesley is currently promoting the release of his major-debut album "Bluezy" that dropped Oct. 26th, 2018. "The songs on this album reflect my soul. I feel like this album says more about me as a writer and performer that my past releases may not have portrayed clearly.", says Wesley of the new album. "I can't wait to perform these songs on tour and build a nightly relationship with the songs in the way I have with my last record."
